Admission requirements

Level 1

  • Candidate over 18 years of age
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

Level 1, recertification:

  • Valid level 1 certificate on the day of the exam
  • Earliest 6 months before expiration date current on certificate
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

Level 2

Level 2 model 1:

  • Candidate over 20 years old
  • Level 1 or 2 certificate that has not expired by more than 24 months.
  • Logged at least 500 hours as level 1. over a period of at least 12 months (hours cannot be older than 5 years)
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

Level 2, recertification:

  • Valid level 2 certificate on the day of the exam
  • Earliest 6 months before expiration date current on certificate
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

Level 2 model 2


This course is for people who do not have a level 1 certificate but have other relevant skills that enable them to complete the training. Applications and associated documentation should be sent to SSE at post@ttsoft.no. Reference person(s) with contact information must be provided and you may also be asked to provide confirmation from the relevant employer.The following minimum requirements for applicants must be met before admission:

  • the candidate must have reached the age of 20;
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

In addition, the candidate must document fulfillment of at least one of the following requirements:

  • minimum 600 hours of work where rope is used as an access route in accordance with §17-24 of the Regulations concerning the performance of work - Rope used as an access route. The experience must extend over a period of at least 3 years. (Traditional fall protection is not considered rope-based access, and recreational climbing no longer provides a basis for obtaining approval) This type of experience must be documented with a log showing an overview of the number of hours worked in rope associated with the date and description of each individual job. The documentation must also be verified by a third party (e.g. employer) and contain contact information for this party.
  • approved tin supervisor in UIAGM;
  • membership and practice in an alpine mountain rescue group affiliated to NARG

Level 3

  • Candidate aged 22 or older
  • Level 2 or 3 certificate that has not expired by more than 24 months.
  • Logged at least 700 hours as level 2 over a minimum period of 12 months (hours cannot be older than 5 years)
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

Level 3, recertification:

  • Valid level 3 certificate on the day of the exam
  • No earlier than 6 months before the expiration date of the current certificate
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years

Fuse conductor

1st time Security Manager:
Persons with a valid level 3 certificate and completed a trainee period of at least 1 year may apply to the certification body for certification as a security manager. The start of the trainee period must be applied for at the certification body.

Security manager, recertification:

  • valid certificate as a security manager on the day of the examination;
  • no earlier than 6 months before the expiry date of the current certificate;
  • logged a minimum of 300 hours of rope work since the start of the previous course (does not apply to first-time refresher courses);
  • participated in at least one security manager seminar during the certificate period (does not apply to first-time refresher courses);
  • Valid health certificate no older than 3 years
